Watch: Gov. Gavin Newsom gives news conference on coronavirus, July 4 restrictions

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press conferences continue Thursday, July 2, with new updates on the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions ahead of the Independence Day weekend. Watch a replay below.

This latest press conference comes at the heels of several other updates provided by the governor this week. On Wednesday, citing a sharp uptick in California coronavirus cases, Newsom announced a major rollback in reopening measures across the state ahead of July 4.

The governor directed 19 counties to shut down indoor dining, movie theaters, bars and other establishments for at least three weeks.

On Wednesday, Newsom also urged Californians to wear face masks.

“Wearing a face covering is a sign of toughness,” he said. “It’s a sign of resolve. It’s a sign of someone who wants to give a damn.”
