Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday afternoon gave an update on California’s efforts to contain the coronavirus outbreak, which has worsened in the state and country in recent weeks. Click the video below to watch a recording of the livestream.

Newsom has ramped up restrictions across the state — rolling back on reopening in all counties and imposing new restrictions on counties on his watch list — but has recently come under criticism for not doing enough to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Sen. Steve Glazer, D-Orinda yesterday called on the governor to impose a strict stay-at-home order in most California counties, saying that the state had lost the fight against the virus. California recently surpassed New York as the state with the greatest number of confirmed cases.
