California Gov. Gavin Newsom is set to announce new actions to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including a requirement that health care workers must get the COVID-19 vaccine booster. Health care workers already were required to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The announcement comes as California is dealing with the spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19.
According to Newsom’s office, California has distributed more than 64 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
