AM Alert: West Coast times for today’s GOP events
The Republican debate hosted by FOX News is on today, at 6 p.m. PDT.
As was widely reported earlier this week, the debate will include 10 frontrunners, from Trump down to Chris Christie and Ohio governor John Kasich.
Carly Fiorina, who ran an unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate in California in 2010, didn’t make the cut. She will be in a separate forum with six others who weren’t selected, starting at 2 p.m. on the West Coast.
Gov. Jerry Brown will have to tune in tonight to find out the answer to a letter he sent to Republican presidential candidates, asking whether they’d be willing to address climate change.
VOTING RIGHTS ANNIVERSARY: The Sacramento NAACP and the Greater Sacramento Urban League are hosting a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act with a reenactment of the presidential signing ceremony, along with a candlelit vigil and music.
The event is at 6 p.m. on the south steps of the Capitol.
FROM THE KIDS BOOK BEAT: The communications manager at the Speaker’s Office of Member Services is now also a picture book author. Andy Domek is reading his book at 7 p.m. tonight at “Time Tested Books” on 21st Street.
