Live, from California, our experts take your election questions as ballots come in
California’s primary election is just around the corner, and we know you’ll have questions on Election Night and the next day.
Never fear, we’ve got you covered with two webinar sessions designed to link you up with our journalists.
Join The Sacramento Bee and our other McClatchy newsrooms in California live on election night, Tuesday, June 2, for a free discussion/Q&A with our editors and reporters covering the primary, including opinion editor Marcos Bretón and Capitol Bureau editor Lauren Chapman. This virtual event will take place at 6:30 p.m., shortly before polls close at 8 p.m. We’ll do our best to answer your questions about where things stand via Zoom chat. Register for the Election Night event by clicking here.
We’ll be live again at noon on Wednesday, June 3, as votes are still being counted. What races have we called, and what are our early takeaways? We’ll tackle that and more during this lunchtime webinar moderated by Grace Wyler, our AME for Politics and Investigations. Register for the post-election breakdown event here.
After you sign up, you’ll get a confirmation email from Bee audience engagement leader Samantha Sullivan that will include a Zoom webinar link. This email also will include a button to add the webinar to your digital calendar.
The day of the event, you’ll get an email reminder an hour beforehand. Click on the link to join us at the start time. Once the digital doors open, we’ll go through a general discussion about where things stand before moving onto what’s on your mind. You’ll be able to ask questions in the chat, with the panelists answering as many as possible — and other Bee journalists responding in writing.
Voter Guide reminder
Besides our webinars, our comprehensive voter guides include candidate information, voter-registration information, maps and, in many races, candidate endorsements made by our McClatchy California editorial board. The board’s endorsement process is walled off from the newsroom, so it doesn’t influence our reporting. We see endorsements as a public service — regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the board’s opinion.
Our voter guide stories also delve into who’s funding the races, and in some cases include searchable campaign-finance graphics from our news partner CalMatters.
Each of our guides starts with the governor’s race, as well as other statewide and congressional races, before filtering down to local contests. Here’s how to find each guide:

Fresno: Go to fresnobee.com/voter-guide
Modesto: Go to modbee.com/voter-guide
Merced: Go to mercedsunstar.com/voter-guide
San Luis Obispo: Go to sanluisobispo.com/voter-guide
This type of deep dive into elections doesn’t happen without subscriber support. If you’re not a subscriber already, go to sacbee.com/subscribe, fresnobee.com/subscribe, modbee.com/subscribe, mercedsunstar.com/subscribe and sanluisobispo.com/subscribe to support our local journalism.
