How Bera and Ose stack up, precinct by precinct, as count continues

Election officials are expected to announce new vote totals later today in Sacramento County’s 7th Congressional District, one of two California House contests where the final outcome is still in doubt two weeks after Election Day.

Below are snapshots of where things stand now, following updates last Friday, Nov. 12, Nov. 10 and Nov. 5, the day after the election.

Ose is ahead in 10 more precincts than Bera. And Bera-leaning precincts averaged lower turnout. Bera’s share of the vote in Bera-leaning precincts, though, averaged 1 percent higher than Ose’s share of the vote in Ose-leaning precincts. Some precincts had no votes.

Based on the latest tally, there were almost 6,500 voters in the 7th district who cast ballots but sat out the Bera-Ose race. Over votes are ballots judged by ballot-counting equipment to contain votes for both Bera and Ose. Election officials check those by hand to see if voter intent is clear.

Friday: Bera had 89,477 votes to Ose’s 88,780, 50.2 percent to 49.8 percent.

Wednesday: Bera had 87,643 votes to Ose’s 86,932, 50.2 percent to 49.8 percent.

Monday: Ose had 76,133 votes to Bera’s 75,603, 50.17 percent to 49.83 percent.

Election Night: Ose had 56,284 votes to Bera’s 53,273, 51.4 percent to 48.6 percent.
