The final, certified results are in, and Rep. Ami Bera won re-election to a second term by 1,455 votes over Republican Doug Ose.

The map below shows how the 7th Congressional District race was won. Bera did best in the district’s western precincts, while Ose polled stronger in the 7th’s eastern half.

It took more than two weeks for a winner to emerge in the 7th race, the most expensive House contest in the country. Ose led in Election Night tallying, but Bera steadily gained ground as the count progressed.

Both parties, meanwhile, may want to convene a focus group of some voters from the precinct surrounding Elk Grove’s Camden Park. Ose and Bera tied there with exactly 371 votes apiece, final results show.

In the map below, precincts won by Bera are shades of blue and precincts carried by Ose are shades of red. Purple precincts were a tie. White precincts had no votes. Click on a precinct for more information.
