Jerry Brown: Republicans 'so far off the deep end'
Gov. Jerry Brown said Saturday that the United States is in an unprecedented time in its political history, with Republicans more “off the deep end” than ever before.
The fourth-term Democrat, addressing a dinner at the California Democratic Party’s annual convention, said no one would have believed five years ago that Republicans Donald Trump and Ted Cruz could have been considered viable candidates. He accused them of perpetrating “low-comity, bad politics, bad values.”
“Never have the Republicans been so far off the deep end,” said Brown, who ran unsuccessfully for president three times. “But don’t take anything for granted. We’ve got to organize, we’ve got to mobilize, and we’ve got to take our message to the American people.”
