Danny Glover, the actor and activist with deep roots in San Francisco politics, has been tapped to introduce Bernie Sanders at a rally tonight in Sacramento.
Glover is part of a stable of Hollywood stars, including Danny DeVito and Rosario Dawson, to open for the Vermont senator. A longtime supporter of humanitarian causes, Glover opened for Sanders in South Carolina, where he spoke about high poverty and incarceration rates among African Americans.
Glover is known for his roles in the “Lethal Weapon” franchise and “The Color Purple.” He managed the California Angels in Disney’s “Angels in the Outfield.”
Sanders speaks at Bonney Field near Cal Expo. Doors open at 5 p.m. He’ll hold another rally Tuesday morning in Stockton at the Weber Point Event Center.
