Sacramento County election: Who’s leading in close council and board races?

Votes continue to come as tight election races remain across Sacramento County, with some 145,000 ballots potentially still waiting to be counted.

In the battle for Folsom City Council’s 5th District seat, Anna Rohrbough leads with 52.18% of the vote against Kerri Howell’s 47.82%.

Howell, who was leading the race on Tuesday, has so far received 2,245 votes to Rohrbough’s 2,450.

The latest update on the county website at elections.saccounty.net showed about 145,000 ballots were left to process, though it notes, “These figures are ONLY an estimate. Various factors will affect the number of ballots included in the final tally.”

It was unknown which of the races those ballots could affect. Certified results will be reported on or before Thursday, Dec. 8.

Galt City Council

Three of the five candidates for Galt City Council are leading the race to secure their positions.

As of Saturday, Incumbent Vice Mayor Paul Sandhu and Mayor Shawn Farmer received 2,796 and 2,615 votes respectively.

As of Tuesday, incumbent Rich Lozano and Galt Joint Union Elementary School District’s Board of Education President Tom Silva were separated by only five votes.

Lozano is now leading with a slightly bigger cushion of 52 votes. He has received 2,181 votes to Silva’s 2,129.

Other close races

Incumbent and Mayor Porsche Middleton and Natalee Price were separated by nine votes as of Tuesday in the race for Citrus Heights City Council District 5. As of Saturday, they were tied, each receiving 1,523 votes.

In the Isleton City Council race, David Kent and Aleida Suarez were tied at 50 votes Tuesday. As of Saturday, Kent has received just two more votes than Suarez.

Originally a close race, Sacramento City Unified School District board of education challenger Jasjit Singh pulled ahead of incumbent Leticia Garcia with 7,601 votes to Garcia’s 6,633.

For the Cordova Recreation and Parks District 2 seat, Mark Matus trailed Inez Reyes by a single vote Tuesday, but has pulled away to a 2,655 to 2,506 lead.
