For the first time in more than 15 years a new Yuba County supervisor will represent the community of Linda.

The only contested race among open Yuba County seats in the June 2 primary election is for the 1st Supervisorial District, which lies east of Marysville’s city limits.

Andy Vasques Jr. has held the district position since 2009, when he was appointed by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Vasques opted not to run for reelection, instead putting his support behind candidate Rich Webb. Webb faces Marie Vue for the seat on the five-member board that oversees Yuba County government.

The other Board of Supervisors seat up for reelection is for the 5th District, which Supervisor Jon Messick currently holds and has filed to continue representing. He is running uncontested in the primary.

Other Yuba County races for superintendent of schools, assessor and other offices are uncontested.

Where is the district?

The 1st District strict begins south of Marysville city limits, encompassing East Linda and a portion of West Linda. The district extends south beside Highway 70 and east of a northern section of Olivehurst.

The parts of Linda incorporated into the district include a corridor east of the highway and south of Marysville where a Costco, Walmart and other commercial and retail development have burgeoned in recent years. The district also encompasses Yuba College and provides access to Beale Air Force Base.

Who are the candidates?

Rich Webb is a longtime Linda resident and former community fire chief of 20 years. He said on his campaign website that he will continue supporting business development and infrastructure upgrades in Linda. In addition to his support of local economic development, his priorities are public safety, decreasing homelessness and restoring a sense of community to Linda, according to his campaign website.

Marie Vue is a lifelong Yuba County resident who grew up in an agricultural family. She is currently a member of the Yuba County Commission on Aging. A main priority of her campaign is business development, including advocating for small businesses and supporting programs that help small business owners start their ventures, according to her campaign website. She also backs continued infrastructure improvements, public safety, agriculture, reducing poverty and increasing government transparency.

Who is funding the race?

Webb received $10,647 in contributions through 2025 and $9,000 in additional funding as of March 6, according to Yuba County elections office filings.

Vue reported receiving $9,944 in cash through 2025, plus $864 in nonmonetary contributions. Filings show that she reported another $4,000 in donations as of March 18.
