Your guide to El Dorado County’s four ballot measures

Placerville and El Dorado County news

El Dorado County voters could see one of four local ballot initiatives on the June 2 primary ballot, each affecting specific communities rather than the county as a whole.

Four measures, if approved, would fund community projects and services through parcel taxes paid by property owners.

South Lake Tahoe Library - Measure B

Measure B would renew a special tax to fund South Lake Tahoe Library services, levying $25.50 per year per eligible land parcel. The tax would raise about $580,000 annually, according to El Dorado County. If approved, it would allow the library to maintain current hours and services.

The campaign for Measure B has received nearly $17,000 in donations this year, according to a campaign disclosure statement. It has spent more than $4,100. Its largest donor was Friends of the Library in Placerville with an $8,000 donation. The largest expense was about $2,000 to Signs of Tahoe for yard signs.

There were no campaign filings for those opposed.

Fallen Leaf Lake Community Services District - Measure E

Voters in the Fallen Leaf Lake area are being asked to renew a fire special tax first approved in July 2024, according to El Dorado County.

The tax would raise nearly $213,000 annually to fund ambulance and fire services. Developed parcels would pay $660 a year while undeveloped parcels would pay half, according to a fact sheet. If approved, that amount could increase by a maximum of 1.5% annually to account for inflation.

There were no campaign disclosures filed with El Dorado County for this measure.

Georgetown Divide Library - Measure G

The Georgetown Divide Library is asking voters to renew an existing special tax of $25.50 per year per parcel within the Georgetown Divide Library Zone of Benefit. The tax would raise about $124,000 and would be subject to an annual inflation adjustment not to exceed 3%. If approved, it would remain in effect through June 2048. If the measure fails, reduced hours or closure could occur, according to the county.

Supporters of Measure G have raised about $13,200 so far this year and have spent nearly $2,600. The largest donor was Friends of the Library El Dorado, Inc. in Placerville, according to a campaign disclosure. The largest expense was $740 to Black Oak Mine Unified School District for 10 vinyl banners.

South Lake Tahoe Recreation Facilities Joint Powers Authority - Measure G

The South Lake Tahoe Recreation Facilities Joint Powers Authority is seeking to continue a parcel tax that helps fund the maintenance and improvement of bicycle trails, according to El Dorado County. The authority is proposing to extend the tax, which would raise about $645,000 a year, for another 30 years.

The total cost varies by property type, but all residential properties would pay $18 a year or less. A full rate table can be found on measuregtahoe.com.

There have been no campaign filings for this measure.

Campaign finance data for all four measures were current as of April 18.
