California government officials last week awarded the Medal of Valor to 52 state employees for acts of heroism. Here are the remarks from the award ceremony that detail the circumstances of each award, the highest honor that the state can bestow on its public servants.

The remarks are sorted in alphabetical order by the recipients’ last names: A through G and H through W.
