A recall of about 28,000 gas stoves that might emit deadly amounts of carbon monoxide
Stoves should cook, not kill, which is why ZLine recalled about 28,000 RG gas ranges on Thursday.
“The oven of the gas ranges can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO) while in use, posing a serious risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice explains.
ZLine received 44 reports of such emissions, the alert said, including three reports of consumers who sought medical attention.

This involves model Nos. RBG-36, RGS-30, RG30, RG36, RGB-30, and RGS-36, 30-inch and 36-inch models.
ZLine is offering a repair, but apparently doesn’t have one to offer yet. The alert says consumers shouldn’t use the oven “until a free repair is available” and ZLine is “working to develop repairs for all affected units.”
The stove tops were given clearance, however.
