Woman and man killed in collision with truck on Highway 16 near Sloughhouse, CHP says
A man and woman have died after their car collided with a truck tractor on Highway 16 Tuesday morning near Sloughhouse, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers responded to a call reporting the collision at 10:19 a.m., said Officer Clyde Holland, CHP East Sacramento spokesman.
From witness reports, a tractor-trailer pulling was traveling eastbound on Highway 16, also known as Jackson Road, when a white Honda sedan entered the roadway from the northbound lane of Eagles Nest Road, he said. The tractor truck hit the left side of the Honda pushing it across the highway and off the road.
The Honda came to rest on the right shoulder near the westbound lanes. The female driver and the male passenger suffered fatal injuries, Holland said.
The driver of the tractor truck was not injured, Holland said.
The names of the man and woman will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after next of kin have been notified.
