Tower Bridge’s gates briefly stuck, blocked traffic over iconic Sacramento roadway
Downtown Sacramento’s Tower Bridge was briefly closed Friday afternoon after its traffic gates were stuck in the down position, according to a social media post by the California Department of Transportation.
Caltrans said just after 1:30 p.m. that the gates were stuck, “preventing vehicle travel across the bridge.” There was not an estimated time of reopening. The gates had reopened around 2 p.m.
Officials said workers had to manually open the gates as they worked on “electrical issues.”
