Lane closures will slow Interstate 5 through Sacramento over the weekend
Road work by Caltrans crews during 55-hour window this weekend will limit the flow of traffic and close ramps on Interstate 5 in across the Sacramento area, from downtown to south Sacramento.
The closures will limit traffic to one lane in each direction from Laguna Boulevard to Pocket Road and to two lanes from Richards Blvd to J Street beginning at 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
Ramp closures include:
Westbound Laguna Boulevard on-ramp to nortbound I-5
Northbound I-5 offramp to Cosumnes River Boulevard
Eastbound Cosumnes River Boulevard on-ramp to northbound I-5
Westbound Cosumnes River Boulevard on-ramp to northbound I-5
L Street on-ramp to northbound I-5
I Street on-ramp to northbound I-5
Northbound I-5 offramp to Richards Boulevard
Another 55-hour closure is expected the following weekend, according to Caltrans’ project website.
The closures are part of the agency’s Fix Sac 5 project to improve the major north-south artery. According to Caltrans, improvements include adding high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes, replacing a pedestrian overcrossing, constructing sound walls and extending entrance and exit ramps.
