Emergency repairs will snarl traffic on this Sacramento County highway. Here’s what to do

Road work

Travelers heading toward Sacramento on Highway 99 in south Sacramento County will find congestion and delays on Saturday as Caltrans crews perform emergency lane repairs to two lanes several miles outside of Galt.

The closures will take place on a nearly 1-mile stretch of northbound Highway 99 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. near Mingo Road. The closure will also shut down the northbound roadway’s on- and offramps at Mingo Road.

“Aging pavement and the recent storms have caused major potholes on northbound SR-99,” Caltrans District 3 said in their announcement. Highway officials say the last opportunity to exit before the construction zone is Twin Cities Road.
