Gorgeous weekend ahead for Sacramento, forecast shows, but rivers still ‘very dangerous’

Sacramento weather will return to some semblance of normalcy by the last day of April, as high temperatures are expected to cool down from the high 80s to the mid-70s by next Tuesday.

National Weather Service advises that high temperatures will still be well above normal Friday and Saturday across Northern California. Sacramento has a high of 87 in the forecast each day.

But Sunday and Monday are expected for more seasonably appropriate highs near 81 or 82, and Tuesday should drop to about 76, NWS predicts.

Even 87 degrees might feel like a cool-down after Sacramento hit 90 degrees Thursday. High temperatures of 94 in Modesto and 93 in Stockton on Thursday set new daily records, NWS reports.

The weekend temperatures may seem ideal for water activity, but NWS advises that Northern California rivers are still running cold and fast.

NWS Sacramento in a tweet said water temperatures of 60 degrees or lower are “very dangerous,” and can result in loss of control of limbs within a few minutes. The Sacramento River’s temperature has ranged between 51 and 55 degrees over the past seven days, NWS data show.
