One-day cooldown for Sacramento before another hot weekend, forecasts show
Sacramento will get a one-day respite from mid-90s temperatures this week before Northern California weather heats back up for the weekend, forecasts show.
The National Weather Service predicts a high of 93 degrees Tuesday. It will dip down to 83 Wednesday before rebounding to the low 90s Thursday and Friday.
Even more summer-like heat will return by the weekend, with highs of 96 and 97 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, NWS forecasts show.
Wednesday is expected to begin cloudy, and wind gusts could reach up to 21 mph by that afternoon or evening. Winds should die down Thursday, the NWS says.
As of Tuesday morning, a pair of wildfires burning in Northern California — the Stump Fire in Tehama County and the Red Salmon Complex Fire in Shasta-Trinity National Forest — were creating smoky conditions mostly north and northeast of the Sacramento, including the Clearlake, Chico and Redding areas. The NWS predicts the smoke will blow north, away from the capital, over the course of Tuesday.
No red flag warnings were in place for Northern California as of Tuesday morning.
