Video captures Northern California flooding, Yosemite waterfall after rain from storm

A powerful atmospheric river and “bomb cyclone” drenched Northern California over the weekend, with one-day rainfall records in Sacramento and San Francisco falling Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

New video shows flooding from the bomb cyclone and atmospheric river storm that struck October 23 and October 24, 2021.

Sacramento saw more than 5 inches in 24 hours. The downpour broke the one-day rainfall record for downtown San Francisco, while also making it the area’s second-wettest October on record. Some rainfall totals elsewhere passed the one-foot mark.

The storm led to hundreds of thousands of power outages, according to Pacific Gas & Electric.

The National Weather Service said heavy rain, high-elevation snow, and gusty winds were forecast for Central and Northern California, the Sierra Nevada and the Great Basin on Monday.
