Turn on your low beams: The Sacramento Valley is waking up to a dense fog

Dense fog is blanketing parts of the Sacramento Valley on Friday morning with visibility in some areas dropping to less than a quarter of a mile.

Central and southern parts of the Sacramento Valley are under a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The advisory also includes portions of the northern San Joaquin Valley, the Carquinez Strait and the Delta.

The advisory covers cities including Sacramento, Chico, Oroville, Marysville, Yuba City, Fairfield, Suisun, Stockton and Modesto.

In Sacramento, the fog is expected to give way to a sunny afternoon before returning overnight, according to the NWS forecast.

If you’re driving in the fog, remember to use your low beam headlights and leave extra following distance.
