‘Roller coaster’ weather forecast for Northern California: Wind, heat and possible rain
The National Weather Service is predicting a bit of a “roller coaster” for the first week of May in Northern California.
The agency said in a tweet to expect a sunny and breezy Sunday, with temperatures hovering in the low- to mid-80s throughout the northern Sacramento Valley. Winds in the Sacramento region are expected to pick up, with gusts up to 21 mph in the forecast.
Forecast highs will dip to the mid-70s on Monday, with gusty winds, before creeping back up and hitting an expected high of around 90 degrees on Wednesday. That’s well above the normal high temperature of around 77 degrees for this time of year.
That pesky wind that hit the region on Sunday is expected to stick around for a few days, the National Weather Service said.
“Periods of breezy winds are expected throughout the week,” the service wrote in another Sunday morning tweet. “Make sure loose outdoor items and temporary structures are secure, use caution driving in and around high profile vehicles, and avoid outdoor burning!”
There’s a chance of isolated rain showers in far Northern California on Monday, then again later in the week, the NWS said.
If the heat ends up being too much for you this week, Palisades Tahoe announced recently it will extend its ski season through the rest of the month.
