More rain, hail headed to Northern California before Sacramento region temps skyrocket

Rain is expected to pass through the Sacramento area Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Sacramento International Airport recorded less than tenth of an inch of rain from showers Monday, according to the weather service. The northern parts of the region received the most rain.

Tuesday’s rain showers, which are likely anytime between 12 p.m. and late afternoon, are expected to bring in the same amount as the day before.

Thunderstorm chances are greater at higher elevations across Northern California between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., according to the weather service.

“Small accumulating hail, lightning, gusty winds, & isolated funnel clouds are possible with these storms,” the weather service said on Twitter.

Temperatures for Tuesday night in Sacramento are predicted to be as low as 43 degrees. The high isn’t expected to break 65. The “unseasonably cool” temperatures are expected across the region — 15 to 20 degrees below average for this time of year.

However, the cooler, rainy weather isn’t sticking around. Temperatures will rise to the mid 80s and low 90s across the Central Valley by the end of the week.

The high temperature in Sacramento is expected to jump 27 degrees by Saturday, hitting 92.

Temperatures will rise throughout the week: High of 74 on Wednesday; 75 on Thursday; 83 on Friday.
