Smoke from Yosemite-area wildfire hasn’t yet hit Sacramento. Here’s the current outlook

While smoke from the Oak Fire causes concerns about air quality across California, the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District still considers the city’s levels to be “good.”

Smoke from the fire near Yosemite National Park has not reached the area yet, a spokesperson for the Sacramento branch of the National Weather Service said Sunday.

Most Sacramento-area municipalities still have “good” air quality,

Auburn and Rio Vista have been given the “moderate” designation. The air quality in Colfax was in the “unhealthy” range Sunday afternoon.

As of a Sunday morning update, the Oak Fire had spread across more than 14,000 acres with 0% containment. Some 6,000 people have been displaced so far, according to Cal Fire. The fire is burning in rural Mariposa County.

Smoke from the fire is expected to make its way to the Bay Area on Monday morning, according to forecasters. Skies are expected to be “hazy and slightly red/orange-tinted,” the weather service said.
