How much rain and snow fell in Northern California storms? See latest totals and forecast
Rain and snow covered Northern California over the past few days, but to say the region is drenched is a stretch.
In downtown Sacramento, 0.97 inches fell from Sunday to Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
This is more than the monthly average rain total in October in downtown, which is at 0.93 inches. That said, the area’s normal for November is 1.78 inches.
Redding, Red Bluff and Chico all saw more than an inch of rain and Grass Valley had more than 3 inches.
The cold, wet weather did bring snow to the mountains, with totals at 2 feet in Palisades Tahoe, 2.8 feet in Sierra Snow Lab and 3 feet in Bear Valley.
In the next few days
Expect drier weather for the rest of the week.
It’ll be sunny, clear or partly cloudy for the most part in the coming days, but chilly temperatures are here to stay. Tuesday’s high of 53 was the second lowest high of the year for Sacramento, next to New Year’s Day at 52 degrees.
Thursday is expected to have a high near 57 and Friday is forecast at around 56. Saturday and Sunday will be near 57 and 60, respectively. There’s a chance of rain in the capital city.
And snow may be headed back to the Tahoe region beginning Friday night through Saturday.
