How much did it rain in Sacramento last night? Here are the totals from last shower

Light rain sprinkled down on Sacramento on Wednesday night and though meteorologists predict no rain for the next seven days, chilly temperatures are underway.

“It will be pretty cold through the weekend with temperatures in the morning around freezing or just below across the county,” Chelsea Peters, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Sacramento said.

Sacramento rain totals

The precipitation total for January so far is 7.5 inches, according to the National Weather Service. The normal for January is 3.87 inches.

The heaviest rainfall in Sacramento County on Wednesday night fell between Fair Oaks and Citrus Heights, Peters said.

Below are the approximate 24-hour rain totals for the region:

  • Downtown Sacramento: 0.36 inches
  • Sacramento International Airport: 0.34 inches
  • Arcade Creek: 0.24
  • Rancho Cordova: 0.39 inches
  • Fair Oaks: 0.56 inches
  • Citrus Heights: 0.47 inches
  • El Dorado Hills: 0.45 inches
  • Auburn: 0.49

Overnight temperatures are predicted to dip into the 30s over the next five days, with possibility of patchy fog starting Friday, according to the weather service forecast.

Snow totals

According to the California Department of Water Resources, 52 stations reported the central sierra snow pack levels at 248% of normal for Jan. 19.

  • Sugar Bowl: 6 inches
  • Sierra Snow Lab: 10 inches
  • Sierra at Tahoe: 8 inches

The weather service is forecasting mostly dry conditions across the entire area for the next seven days, Peters said. With Tahoe City predicted to see single digit temperatures, according to the weather service forecast.
