Don’t be fooled by warm Sacramento temps. Here’s when cold and rain will return
UPDATE Tuesday, Feb. 14: How cold will it get in Sacramento this week? Prepare for below freezing temperatures
You might call it “Fool’s Spring.”
Despite the brief bout of sun and 70-degree temperatures Sunday, similar to what you’d see in the springtime, cooler weather and rain are expected to return to Sacramento — a reminder that it’s still winter.
National Weather Service meteorologist Hannah Chandler-Cooley said that this is normal and is something that happens most years.
After Monday’s high of 65 degrees and low around 39, the chill returns Tuesday with a forecast high of 54, wind gusts up to 28 mph and a low near 34.
The weather service is warning people of moderate winds that may cause downed trees or difficult driving conditions, starting Monday afternoon.
Wednesday’s high is expected around 58 with gusts up to 23 mph and the low is around 33 with frost after 5 a.m.
It will be mostly sunny and clear Monday to Thursday morning. Highs for Thursday are near 57 with a low around 40. Expect a chance of shower after 4 a.m. Thursday night and before 10 a.m. Friday. Friday’s high is around 56, low near 36.
Sunny weather will return for the weekend with temperatures for Saturday and Sunday near 62 during the day.
