Porsche, Tesla, Land Rover. See luxury cars slide into each other on icy Tahoe road

Video of a slow car pileup during the recent epic winter storm that hit Lake Tahoe, California, shows the treacherous road conditions drivers are facing.

Lake Tahoe Towing shared videos of the havoc wreaked on icy Sierra roads with the Sacramento Bee. One video, which shows a Porsche, Tesla and Land Rover after their wheels locked up, was captioned with the hashtag #Quartermilliondollarpileup.

“Check road conditions before visiting,” the company advised in a caption. “Stay safe out there!”

Another major storm is expected to arrive in the mountains late Monday through Tuesday. Snow showers may linger into Wednesday, before the region finally gets a dry day on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

“We have been busy these past few weeks,” the towing company added.

In an email, the towing company gave its best practices for drivers this winter.

“Our best advice for travelers is to study the maps and stay on main highways and main roads,” the email said. “Do NOT rely on your GPS. GPS will take you through neighborhoods like the ones in my video and may lead to similar situations.”

Also, the company added:

Keep a safe following distance;

When going uphill (“first of all, don’t do it and find another route”) — but, if necessary, “momentum is key;”

When going down an icy hill, if you step on your breaks and begin to loose control, release your breaks and “steer for your life.”
