How much rain did Sacramento get? Here are the latest totals — and what’s next
Rain fell throughout the Sacramento area on Tuesday evening. And while people woke up to clear skies on Wednesday morning, there could be more precipitation on the way.
Here’s a look at how much it rained and when precipitation might make its way back to the area.
Precipitation totals
Precipitation was very light for the most part across the Sacramento area, said Idamis Del Valle-Shoemaker, a National Weather Service meteorologist. Many places received around 0.1 inches from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning, though some saw almost a quarter-inch.

▪ Rancho Cordova: 0.11 inches
▪ Mather Airport: 0.11 inches
▪ Fair Oaks: 0.11 inches
▪ Rocklin: 0.07 inches
▪ Citrus Heights 0.07
▪ Elk Grove: 0.03 inches
Is more rain on its way in Sacramento?
Sacramento’s next chance of rain is expected to be early next week, Del Valle-Shoemaker said.
Temperatures will remain in the low and mid-70s throughout the rest of this week leading up to next week’s possible showers, according to the NWS’ forecast.
Wednesday’s temperature is forecast to reach a high of 73 degrees and dip to 53 degrees overnight, which is about 8 degrees below normal for this time of year, Del Valle-Shoemaker said.
Breezy northerly winds are forecast for the Sacramento Valley for Wednesday and into Thursday, according to an NWS post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Gusts may reach up to 35 mph in some places.
