Clouds may cover partial solar eclipse in Sacramento. What’s the latest forecast?
Sacramento-area residents’ views of the highly anticipated annular solar eclipse on Saturday could be blocked by clouds, according to the National Weather Service.
Known for its “ring of fire” as the moon doesn’t fully cover the sun and will still reveal its bright edges, the eclipse is expected to start at around 8 a.m. People in the Sacramento area will see a partial eclipse, where the sun looks like a crescent, at 9:20 a.m.
In the latest forecast, there will be pockets of clear skies on Saturday morning, but a low-pressure system will bring more cloud cover into the late morning and afternoon.
According to the NWS, areas south of Interstate 80 will likely have better viewing conditions and less clouds. The further north one goes, the more there will be cloud cover.
How’s the weather?

Monday’s high is near 81.
