Wet weather kicked off the month of March, with rain pouring down Sacramento.
Most of the capital city and the surrounding area received less than an inch of rain over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Over the past 72 hours, from Friday morning to Monday morning, Sacramento International Airport recorded 0.77 inches of rain and Sacramento Executive Airport saw 0.78 inches.
Elk Grove recorded 0.47 inches.
Areas further inland received more rain. Foothill Farms recorded 1.02 inches of precipitation, Rocklin saw 1.16 inches and Lincoln got 1.05 inches.
El Dorado Hills received the most amount of rain in the area, with 1.22 inches.
What’s in the weather forecast for Sacramento?
Light lingering showers were possible Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, before a new storm system rolls in late Monday to Tuesday night.
Latest forecasts show a mostly cloudy Monday with a high temperature near 55 degrees. At night, there’s a 30% chance of showers with a low temperature near 45 degrees.
Tuesday is expected to be mostly cloudy throughout the day with a 30% chance of showers after 4 p.m. and before 10 p.m. The high will be near 61 and the low is around 45.
Wednesday is forecast to have a 20% chance of showers. The high will be near 64 and the low will be around 45.
Sunshine is expected to return to Sacramento on Thursday and Friday. Highs are forecast to be near 64 and 65, and lows will be around 40 and 45, respectively.
There’s a chance of more showers on Saturday and Sunday, the weather service said.
