Stunning bluebird drone video shows Lake Tahoe ski resort. How much snow will skiers get?

Palisades Tahoe ski resort flew a drone into the blue skies over its mountains Tuesday morning as skiers look forward to the end of the week when snow is back in the forecast for the Sierra Nevada region.

“While January has been on the drier side, the cold temperatures have kept our snow in great shape,” Patrick Lacey, public relations manager at the Palisades Tahoe, said in an email. “Our grooming team has been working around the clock to create smooth, crisp corduroy for our guests to enjoy carving up. Fingers crossed for a snowstorm to remember.”

Sunshine is expected in the mountains through Thursday with mild temperatures. But on Friday, rain and high-elevation snow showers are possible. An atmospheric river of moisture is on target to hit Norther California Friday night into Saturday. Winds will be strong.

Nine inches of snow is forecast in the next five days is expected at Palisades Tahoe, and 28 inches in the next 10 days.

A drier pattern returns for the week of Feb. 10, 2025.
