Watch firefighters rescue ‘sweet’ dogs stranded in Northern California river

A video shows the CAL FIRE/Butte County Swiftwater Rescue Team saving two stranded dogs from an island of downed trees in the Feather River in Oroville, California during recent storms.

Residents spotted the trapped dogs near Bedrock Park early in the morning of Feb. 13, 2025. The rescue team jumped into action to rescue the dogs within 10 minutes and bring them back to shore, according to a Butte County Fires, Accidents, Crimes Facebook post.

“The dogs were very happy to join the firefighters in their boat and were very sweet and totally cooperative during the rescue,” BCFAC said in the post.

The incident came after a winter storm moved through the Oroville area, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds and swelling waterways.
