  • Drone video shows 12 inches at Palisades Tahoe; 4 ft more forecast through Sun.
  • Resort teams accelerate snowmaking and operations to expand terrain for holiday weekend.
  • National Weather Service issues high wind warning; gusts to 60 mph across Northern California.

Sierra storms delivered snow from the top of Lake Tahoe ski resort mountains to the bottom, and drone video captured the conditions over the past 72 hours.

Snowfall amounted to 12 inches on the upper mountain of Palisades Tahoe, with forecasts calling for another 4 feet through Sunday.

“This snowfall and the upcoming storms are allowing our teams to expand our current terrain for the holiday weekend,” Madison Condon, senior communications specialist at Palisades, said in an email.

Mountain operations and snow-making teams are working full speed to open up as much of the mountain as possible, she said.

“Going from zero-to hero is no easy task, and we thank you for your patience while we build the mountain,” Condon said.

Meanwhile, the second of two atmospheric storms to rake across California will bring high winds to a large part of the Sacramento Valley and Sierra foothills through the Christmas holiday.

A high wind warning has been issued across much of Northern California as National Weather Service forecasters said winds gusts as high as 60 mph are expected.

The warning begins at 4 p.m. Tuesday and lasts through 4 p.m. Thursday, the weather service’s Sacramento office said.
