On Saturday at 2:25 p.m. the NWS Reno NV released a fire weather watch valid for Monday between noon and 11 p.m. for Surprise Valley California and Eastern Lassen County.
Winds are expected to be west-southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and minimum relative humidity between 10-15%.
"The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them," explains the NWS.
This watch is in effect until Monday at 11 p.m.
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
