The NWS Reno NV issued a fire weather watch at 11:02 a.m. on Thursday valid for Saturday between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. for Eastern Lassen County.
Winds are forecasted to be west 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and humidity 8-15% with overnight recoveries of 30-50%.
"The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them," explains the NWS.
This watch is in effect until Saturday at 11 p.m.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
