Death Valley and Lower Colorado River Valley placed under a fire weather watch Friday and Saturday

On Tuesday at 12:17 p.m. the NWS Las Vegas NV released a fire weather watch valid from Friday 11 a.m. until Saturday 11 p.m. for Death Valley and Lower Colorado River Valley.

Winds are forecasted to be southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph and humidity 5 to 15%.

"Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended," says the NWS.

This watch is in effect until Saturday at 11 p.m.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
