Mono County under a lake wind advisory Friday and Saturday - wind gusts up to 40 mph

At 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, the NWS Reno NV released a lake wind advisory valid from Friday 11 a.m. until Saturday 11 p.m. for Mono County.

"Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph for Topaz Lake, Bridgeport Reservoir, Mono Lake, and Crowley Lake," can be expected according to the NWS. "Winds may briefly subside Friday night before increasing again early Saturday morning."

"Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve," explains the NWS. "Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind."

This advisory is in effect until Saturday at 11 p.m.
