The first 90-degree reading of the year in Sacramento could be recorded this week as a high pressure system is expected to deliver temperature readings that are way above normal for early May.

The maximum afternoon temperature on Monday is predicted to be just a bit below 90, but a high of 92 degrees is forecast for Tuesday. Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week with a high of 93 degrees forecast for Sacramento.

The normal this time of year is only 77 degrees.

Look for temperatures to gradually decrease later in the week as high pressure weakens, according to the National Weather Service.
