The day is shaping up as advertised: the hottest day of a very hot week.

At noon, Sacramento’s temperature had risen to 98 degrees. The National Weather Service predicts the maximum temperature on Thursday will be 109.

The high temperature on Wednesday was 106 degrees. The city has sweltered under triple-digit temperatures since Friday.

The high temperature record for June 22 is 107 degrees.

A Red Flag Warning, issued by the National Weather Service, remains in effect until 11 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, as heat, dryness and hot breezes combine for dangerous conditions in the Sacramento region and Northern California in general.
