North wind cranks up for breezy Thursday in Sacramento

Winds have strengthened in the Sacramento region Thursday.

The breezy conditions should last most of the day. North winds are expected to blow from 7 to 17 mph in Sacramento. Gusts could reach 24 mph.

The temperature could reach 79 degrees on Thursday in Sacramento. Temperatures will continue to warm, rising to 82 degrees on Saturday.

Skies are forecast to be partly cloudy for trick-or-treating Saturday night. No rainfall is expected on Halloween.

Temperatures are predicted to cool into the 70s on Sunday when rain is in the forecast once again.

The detailed, seven-day forecast from the National Weather Service for the Sacramento region:

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 79. North-northwest wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Thursday night: Clear, with a low around 52. North-northwest wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 82. North-northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Light south wind.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 75.

Sunday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53.

Monday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 67.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 65.
