Letters: A heartfelt note to the family of Sgt. La David Johnson
Re “Kelly takes responsibility for Trump’s alleged comment to fallen soldier’s mother” (sacbee.com, Oct. 19): None of us can know the terrible pain the family of Sgt. La David Johnson must be experiencing. We do know, however, that Sgt. Johnson served his country, served us all, with great courage, honor, and selflessness. We hope the knowledge of his heroism and patriotism, as well as the fact that we will never forget his faithful service and his family’s irrecoverable loss, will bring some comfort to the family in the days, months, and years ahead. We will honor Sgt. Johnson by striving everyday to be the very best Americans we can be, the kind of Americans Sgt. Johnson believed we are. That is all any of us can, or should, say to any Gold Star family.
