Letters: Pain of Kate Steinle’s death

Re “Kate Steinle” (Letters, Oct. 28): I don’t mean to sound insensitive but if Kate Steinle had been killed by an American citizen, like almost all killings, would we be having this conversation. No. Because the shooter was a brown man who was undocumented or illegal, use whatever term fits your political view point, it is a big deal. And that is the tragedy of this situation. We seemed to attach different levels of indignation and sorrow to how a person dies. Let’s just say that one human killed another human for no good reason. The pain for the family is the same.
