Letters: Republican tax plan will hurt the middle class

Re “As GOPers call out Trump, a fractured Republican party struggles to get anything done” (sacbee.com, Oct. 30): I read with disgust, that Republican lawmakers are considering eliminating my mortgage and property tax deduction and my deduction for state taxes, along with reducing the amount I can contribute to my 401(k) in their new tax reform deal. I consider myself middle class. The thought that they are doing this, in order to give corporations and the top 1 percent a huge tax break sickens me. When will Republicans wake up to the fact that their leaders do not have our best interests in mind and are beholden only to the monied, who are literally writing our tax laws.
