Letters: Republicans are rewarding plutocrats with tax deal
Re “How bad is the GOP tax plan for California? Republicans don’t even like it” (Editorials, Nov. 4): As a fiscal conservative, social liberal and independent voter, I was praying that a handful of Republican senators would stick to their declared principles and prevent the monstrous tax legislation. Instead, they chose to support. This bill may be soon regarded as one of the worst pieces of legislation ever, with people who clearly know better choosing to support some bizarre trickle-down logic that has never previously proved itself. Just ask Kansas. Shifting so much wealth to people who have no use for it except to boost their already inflated egos is shameful. As a 65 year-old, I thought he’d seen most everything. But I feel shame for Republicans who are enabling of President Donald Trump, who frightens me more each day, to destroy the environment, health care, the social safety net and any notion that DC functions for anyone other than plutocrats advancing their own selfish interests.
