Letters: Unity, not racism, on Martin Luther King Day
Re “Trump: Why allow immigrants from 'shithole countries'? (sacbee.com, Jan. 11): This letter was signed by 186 people in the Davis Farmer's Market on Saturday, Jan. 13: "We publicly reject the racist and divisive language of President Trump, particularly on the eve of the National Martin Luther King Holiday. We also note Trump has removed the US's official motto off the Presidential coin: “E Pluribus Unum”, i.e. “Out of many, one.” and replaced it with his personal campaign slogan. While Trump may have personally abandoned idea of unity and acceptance of everyone, he will not take our striving to form a better union out of our American hearts, the first step being the belief that "all people are created equal."
