Stop body-shaming Donald Trump. He’s in perfect health | Opinion

Good news!

Our (nearly) 80-year-old president is in excellent health. According to results of his recent physical, all tests were in normal range, and his “cardiovascular vitality” was approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age!

And that bruising on his hand? Nothing to worry about; it really is related to “frequent handshaking,” according to a memo from Trump’s physician.

One not-so-bright-spot in the doctor’s report: At 6-foot-3 ’and 238 pounds, President Trump is overweight (and close to obese), which is a little odd given all those miracle weight loss drugs around now.

But the president’s weight-loss (or weight-gain) journey is really none of my business.

Nor, for that matter, is that weird bulge that some of you have been pointing to as evidence that our president wears adult diapers.

True, there are other, more prosaic explanations — it could also be a bullet-proof vest or “love handles” — but human nature being what it is, the diaper rumor has taken off.

It’s even spawned a nickname — Diaper Don — though no reputable fact-checking organization has ever verified the claims.

Yet they keep surfacing, most recently after a Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony purportedly showed a “bulge” under Trump’s suit jacket.

At this point, a question comes to mind that’s probably best answered by a psychiatrist: Are we ever going to grow up? (I include myself in that “we,” by the way.)

There is no shame in wearing adult diapers

Look, accidents happen, which is why adult diapers were invented in the first place.

They are a hygiene product, like toilet paper and period pads, so why all the hysteria?

Even if the president does wear adult diapers, so what? That should be commended, rather than shamed, because it would be one of the most responsible actions he’s taken during this presidency.

Think about it. It would require self-awareness, which we don’t often see from this president, along with careful planning and execution.

And let’s face it, many of us may be in the same boat someday, which turns this into a “glass house” situation.

Let’s talk about Trump’s real failings

So can we please stop looking for unsightly bulges and concentrate on Trump’s really heinous stuff, like the $1.8 billion slush fund, the war in Iran, the mistreatment of immigrants, the price of gas, the gutting of offshore wind, the ballroom, the appointment of Pete Hegseth, the Epstein files, the Kennedy Center renaming, the attack on DEI, the Justice Department’s prosecution of Trump’s “enemies,” the pardoning of criminals, the misogyny .... and let’s not forget that he failed to show up at his own son’s wedding.

To sum up, nearly everything about Trump’s presidency stinks — except for his (alleged) diapers.

Oh, and his “cardiovascular vitality” ain’t bad either.
