Koons a positive influence?
California taken in by ‘artist’ Koons
Re “Galleries hope interest in art will trickle down” (Insight, Sept. 10): I was pleased that longtime Sacramento art galleries such as Sakata and JayJay were highlighted in Marcus Crowder’s article, but I must protest his implication that the idiotic “Koons sculpture” is somehow a positive influence on the art scene.
Koons has never been an artist. He is an industrialist – the owner of a factory that manufactures large-scale collectibles based upon ideas from real artists. How sad that California is now just another patsy, another rube taken in by Koons.
