It’s time to ordain a Catholic woman priest

Re “NFL could hire a woman as an official” (Page A1, April 4): Someone once said cynically that the Catholic Church will ordain a woman priest about the same time the National Football League hires a woman to officiate in NFL games.

Last week the NFL announced it intends to hire the first woman, Sarah Thomas, to officiate during the upcoming NFL season. Come on, Catholic Church, it’s your turn to ordain the first woman priest. It’s time.
